I thought if Iwas a soldier, I should be able to swim, dive andclimb trees as he did. It seemed to be very I began to learn swimming, diving and climbingtrees. I practiced every day and finally I could dothem well. But when I entered junior high school andhad the military training. I suddenly found thatbeing a soldier was very difficult and I wasn'tstrong enough to bear it . I had to give my dream up.

But I wasn't discouraged, and I had new aim, which was to be a postman, or rather to be anewspaper boy. As a newspaper boy. I could speed along streets on a bike and throw newspapersonto every porch. That's also very cool. So I started learning to ride a bicycle. After theeveryday practice, I could go very fast by bicycle. But to my disappointment, the job which Iwanted only existed in western counties not in China, because there was no porch in China. AndChinese postmen had to stuff very thick newspapers into very small mailboxes from very narrowentrances. The job was far from what I had expected. So once again my dream fell through.

Perhaps you have had the same experience as I and most of your dreams haven't come trueyet. But I think it doesn't matter, because if you have a dream, you'll make many efforts torealize it. This course is really important. If I hadn't dreamt of being a soldier or anewspaper boy. I wouldn't have learned to swim, to dive, to climb trees or to ride a if our dream can't come true, you'll learn much from the efforts you have made. i woke up and looked at my watch. oh my god, it’s 7:30 already! i have toget up at once otherwise i’ll be late. today i’ll take the australian athletesas a tour guide around beijing, and i’m going to be the interpreter at thebeijing olympic games opening ceremony tomorrow. this has always been a dream ofmine since beijing won the bid of the olympics, and now the dream has finallycome true—i have already become a successful interpreter. and today is anotherimportant day of my interpreting career. i’m a little nervous but, of course,very excited. here goes my plan for today:

well, our first destination is, surely, the landmark of beijing, the symbolof the 5000 years’ civilization—the forbidden city—where the emperors andempresses of the ming and qing dynasties lived, and it’s really grand. it wasrenovated recently because of the coming olympics.

the second place we are going to is the great wall. this is the onlybuilding, i hear, that can been seen from the moon, and it represents thediligence and the wisdom of whole chinese nation.

now, it’s time for lunch. we plan to have… what? you say ”beijing duck”?yeah, right you are! we’ll come back to the center of beijing, and we’ll havedinner at “quanjude” restaurant. you can enjoy the most delicious chinesefood—beijing duck, and you must be very pleased to hear this! then i’ll show youaround the summer palace. it’s the royal garden for the emperors and empressesof the qing dynasty to pass the hot summers.

Moreover, the English TV program always took time away from my cartoon shows. As a result, I started to hate English.

Time flies. Things completely changed at the end of my primary school life. In the last exam of the whole primary school period, I did so well in English that I got a full mark. I found that I could do a perfect in English if I put my heart on it. This exam seems to be a turning point on my road of studying English and has really inspired me. Although there are still many challenges waiting for me, these setbacks won’t hurt my confidence and will push me to study harder.

Nothing is impossible for willing hearts and I believe, in the future, I can fly as high as I wish to.

I'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about Beijing Olympic Games together with you all. The title of my speech is: what can we do for Beijing Olympic Games?

First of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. At the end of August, 20xx, when I decided to come to Beijing for study, my friends hel* * rewell Party for me. They said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in Beijing, and then in 20xx, we shall go to visit you during the Olympic Games. I laughed and answered: OK, no problem!

Time flied and 2 years passed. Now I am a graduate. My teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? Go back home, stay in Beijing, or go to some other places? And I always answer: I will stay in Beijing. I make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: I've fallen in love with Beijing! I'm eager to welcome the coming Olympic Games together with my fellow countrymen, and I wish I could do something for the Olympics & for the city.

As we know, Beijing will host the 29th Summer Olympic Games in 20xx. As a Chinese, I think many people are thinking: what we can do for Beijing Olympic Games. Most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. We are only ordinary people, what we can do!

There are still so many things we can do! For example, for me, I am a graduate majoring Business English. As far as I am concerned, I will keep on learning English hard, and apply for being a volunteer. I will use English to serve the Games together with other volunteers.
