大家都知道每年農曆五月初五是我們中華民族的傳統節日--端午節。那端午節到底是怎麼來的呢?端午亦稱端五，“端“的意思和“初“相同，稱“端五“也就如稱“初五“;端五的“五“字又與“午“相通，按地支順序推算，五月正是“午“月。又因午時為“陽辰“，所以端五也叫“端陽“。五月五日，月、日都是五，故稱重五，也稱重午。此外，端午還有許多別稱，如：夏節、浴蘭節、女兒節，天中節、地臘、詩人節等等。

端午節的別稱之多，間接説明了端午節俗起源的歧出。事實也正是這樣的。關於端午節的來源，時至今日至少有四、五種説法，諸如：紀念屈原説;吳越民族圖騰祭説;起於三代夏至節説;惡月惡日驅避説，等等。迄今為止，影響最廣的端午起源的觀點是紀念屈原説。在民俗文化領域，我國民眾把端午節的龍舟競渡、賽龍舟，是端午節的主要習俗。相傳起源於古時楚國人因捨不得賢臣屈原投江死去，許多人划船追趕拯救。他們爭先恐後，追至洞庭湖時不見蹤跡。之後每年五月五日划龍舟以紀念之。借划龍舟驅散江中之魚，以免魚吃掉屈原的身體。競渡之習，盛行於吳、越、楚。

端午節吃粽子，這是中國人民的又一傳統習俗。粽子，又叫“角黍“、“筒粽“。其由來已久，花樣繁多。每年五月初，中國百姓家家都要浸糯米、洗粽葉、包粽子，其花色品種更為繁多。從餡料看，北方多包小棗的北京棗粽;南方則有豆沙、鮮肉、火腿、蛋黃等多種餡料，其中以浙江嘉興粽子為代表。吃粽子的風俗，千百年來，在中國盛行不衰，而且流傳到朝鮮、日本及東南亞諸國。

屈原是戰國時期出國人，很有學問。他在楚王身邊做官，以形象是自己的國家富強起來。昏君楚王卻聽信奸臣的話，把屈原削職流放。在流放中，屈原聽説楚國的都城被敵人佔領，百姓遭難，悲憤極了。五月初五這一天，他來到汨羅江邊，懷抱一塊石頭，以縱身跳入汨羅江中。出國的百姓聽到屈原投江的消息，都十分悲痛。他們含着淚划着船趕來打撈屈原，還把粽子扔到江裏餵魚，希望魚兒不要傷害屈原的身體。這就是五月端陽包粽子的來歷。

端午節還有許多有趣的活動。列如賽龍舟，掛香囊，香囊內有硃砂、雄黃、香藥，外包以絲布，清香四溢，再以五色絲線弦扣成索，作各種不同形狀，結成一串，形形色色，玲瓏奪目。還有掛艾葉、菖蒲的習慣。

Each of us picked up threepieces of bamboo leaves, grabbed a handful of glutinous rice with our hands, putthem in the bamboo leaves, and put on some big red dates. And then wrap it intoa cone. Im glad to have a zongzi wrapped up. I said to grandma, "the dumplingsare so simple. Grandma said, "the real bag is not easy!" After finishing thepackage, the dumplings were cooked.

Our whole family is very happy to eat sweet rice dumplings.
